later date officials have postponed the associations link endeavor until Monday Sept 25 GMHA official Rick Hume said any ticketholders should keep their receipts for the later tourna ment date Only the first 15 four somes will be accepted for the event Anyone wishing to play should contact Rick Hume at or any other member of the executive The tournament will be held at the Georgetown Golf and Country Club Hoosiers miss spoiler role Mayors Race winners The Hal ton Hills Firestone competed with a number of the best girls softball teams in Ontario June 1011 in the London Fastball Tournament Although the Hoosiers failed to reach the playoffs they acquitted themselves quite well Firestone was placed in the Green Division As such they played a roundrobin with Strat ford Burlington and Sarnia to determine who advanced to the finals Their first game Saturday against the Stratford team which had eliminated them from the Ontario Playoffs last Halton Hills jumped into an ear ly firstinning lead Stacey arossls walk was followed by an Andrea single A wild pitch moved them into scoring position where a groundout Shannon Morris and a single Tammy Richards each produced a run The Hoosiers increased their lead to in the next inning Natalie Cameron led off with a single and Heather Bailey walked Amy Korzacks grounder was thrown av ay by the pitcher trying to get the force at third which allowed run to come across A second run was disallowed when interference was called on the third base coach A Col- single and another error loaded the bases and Morris walk ed to force in the second run of the inning After the left the bases loaded in the top of the inning Stratford finally put a run on the board in the third on a single a twoout error This unearned run was to be their only score Hills added two insurance runs in the top of the fourth and final frame Backtoback tripfes by Richards and Sherie Peacock produced one run and Peacock scored shortly thereafter Morris picked up the complete- game victory allowing five walks and two base hits while striking out seven Final score Hoosiers Stratford 1 On Sunday Firestone met Burl ington for an am encounter Burlington three sets and Margot Prior and Norma 64 61 On the losing side were Barb and Franclne and Trudy Roy The Wednesday match was against Bronte and Margot Prior and Joanne Van Den won with Barb and lost the match they played Graville and Karin Wilson in three sets won 64 36 In two sets Trudy Roy and won with 75 The Mixed Inter County team took three points so far from Credit Valley Due to rain two mat- dies have to be played at a later date Dog and Mike Hurley Diane and Rene March won their matches and Joanne Van Den Hoek and Norma Maynard won by default The team did not fare well against Regency club on Tuesday but the highlight of the evening Was the win Berate Kent and Bob Houston got in three sets with two sets being tiebreakers The Mixed Inter County team has done well against Malton and Bramalea clubs by taking five and six points Teams of Barb and Ed Debbie Koster and Bill Kent Jim Taggart and Al Robitaille Bruce Payn and Andy Audrey Houston and Ann Kennedy won against Teams of Audrey Houston and Al Debbie Koster and BUI Kent Barb and Chris Steen John Dallison and Andy Mark Lorito and Bruce Ed Van Den Hoek and Victor Estevan won against Bramalea The GATC singles tournament will be held June 232425 for men and women If interested sign up in the clubhouse Convenor is Joanne Van Den Hoek at Peacock But the score was tied Burlington won the game in the bottom of the last inning Hoosiers got the first batter on a strikeout However the- second gained base on an error A walk and two hits later Burlington had four runs and the victory Morris took the loss allowing five walks and three hits while striking out 12 Final score Burl ington 6 Hoosiers 2 Firestones final game was at 2 pm against Samia Since Sarnia had beaten Burlington a win over Hills would send them to the playoffs instead of Burlington The could do no better than play the role of spoilers Hoosiers lost the toss and were the visiting team for the third straight time worked a base on balls moved to second on a wild pitch and scored on Richards single An error and a Wendy Graham single loaded the bases but the Hoosiers couldnt push across any more runs Firestone added two more runs in the second Scarlett and Kor- worked walks off of the pitcher One out later smacked a twoRBI single Sarnia made a pitching change and clos ed the door But the score was scored one run in the third and going into the bottom of the fifth it was still for the The leadoff Sarnia natter struck out but gained first base because of a dropped third strike The next batter gained base courtesy of an error Pitcher Richards then got a strikeout which would have ended the inning except for the errors Unfortunate ly the next batter cashed both run ners with a single to tie the game The next batter was hit by a pitch and Moe Leeking elected to make a pitching change and went to MorriB An infield hit and a fielders choice produced the go- ahead run for Sarnia After a walk a pickoff attempt by the catcher went wide glanced off third baseman Colarossls glove and directly into shortstop Leekings face Two more runs scored A single brought in the final run two girls took first and second
