to local businesses in Halton Hills one of the most frequent problems that I hear is the lack of help and the work attitude of some of the young people The economy in Halton Hills is still verj strong and this adds to the encountered by business The concerns of employers regarding the lack of skills train of our young people are being addressed by the boards of educa tion in Halton along with the chambers of commerce in Hills Milton Oakville and Burl ington These groups have met throughout the summer to establish an industryeducation council The chambers agreed to par in this initiative as long as this program was not a duplication of any existing programs The final report endorsed the idea of the council What are the council s goals to stimulate and support career education to focus community and school resources on career educatior needs to help students make ap propnate career decisions to coordinate career education the Region to facilitate the transition of youth from school to v to foster schoolcommun ty understanding cooperation and collaboration to promote learning as a life long process Funding will come from the boards of education Province of Ontario and the private sector This council will allow the business community to have greater input into the education system With the technological changes that businesses are making today to stay competitive with the rest
