played before a capacity crowd of 16 last Wednesday even ing at the Montreal Forum Canadiens win over the Soviet Wings improved Les Habitants record to 3 2 in games against Russian teams dating back to Hayward made saves against the Russians allowing only a third period Wings power play goal to mar his performance Ironically s name was nowhere to be found when the final results of fan voting were announced for the Wales Conference NHL AllStar team s goaltender Hayward s counterpart with the Canadiens Patrick Roy topped the voting for goaltenders with 203 281 votes Greg recently ac quired by defeating the West Division s second place team Streetsville Derbvs 3 and battling to a stalemate with Brampton Capitals It raised hopes that the Raiders were finalK going to turn the cor in what had other ise been a dismal and frustrating season for the team UnfortunateK Raiders started out play much the same way they had struggled earlier the season and dropped an decision to Peterborough Junior Petes in a game played last Tuesday in Peterborough The loss to Peterborough drop ped the Raiders season record to 4231 eight points behind sixth place Brampton Capitals and mired in the league s West Dm sion cellar Raiders stayed with Peter borough through 20 minutes of play Tuesday and were only down at that point A pair of second period goals allowed the hometown Petes to en joy a 1 minute lead and the margin proved too great for the Raiders to overcome Georgetown scored twice the third period but this was offset by four Peterborough goals to run the final count to in the Petes favor Marty of driver impatience and neglect not mechanical problems The survey conducted by the mak Gas Line Antifreeze re ported that only about a third of win ler dead cars have real mechanical problems like a bad battery or broken alternator Instead the survey cited flooded engines and lack of winter preparation as the culprits in the vist majority of cases The remedies First read your cars owners manual for the proper cold weather starting procedure so you won I inadvertently flood the en If your car lives outdoors all winter long don t let it stand for days at a time without starting it and warming up the engine Keep your fuel tank full to avoid water conden sation and if you live in a very cold climate consider using an antifreeze made for fuel systems Of course you should also keep your cars electrical system tuned up the engine filled with the proper weight of oil and the cooling system topped up with a mixture of anti freeze and water An emergency winter driving kit could make any lime stuck in a snow drift a lot more bearable The kit should include a blanket flashlight small shovel matches flares frost bite ointment candy or bars and believe it or not kitty litter which provides
