Students remember accident victim January Flag at half mast for Allison Schultz The following article It an address given by Georgetown District High School principal Barb Singleton Monday following the death of student Allison in a Boxing Day car accident The address was prepared by Ms Singleton and students Janet M it ton Tur pit Tracy Kennedy and Kennedy Today I would like to speak for a few moments in memory of one of our students who died over the Christmas holidays on Boxing Day in a tragic car accident Many of Allison you will know Allison Schultz one of our senior students personally and for those of you who may not have been acquaintances let me try to paint a picture for you of what this young woman s life meant to her friends family and teachers She was indeed a very special kind of person a positive caring fun loving individual who made everyone with whom she came in contact feel good about life themselves Allison was only 18 years old yet she probably packed more living and laughing into those 18 years than most of us have in our lifetimes Her friends and teachers tell me of numerous occasions when her rather zany yet delightfully funny ways led them into adventures that will be vivid in their memories forever Pizza Hut escapades shopping for jeans messing up the art room absconding with Pink Flamingos all these are little indications of how much fun Allison could be But she also knew how to be serious how to appreciate gifts given to her how to pull her weight and do a good assignment at school how to help out when need without being asked She was kind and considerate and rarely down in the dumps She loved life and sincerely cared about others Her work was excellent despite her divergent creative ways she always ended up getting things done maybe a little late or a bit last minute but done and done well She was not afraid to be different and to be herself Let us remember Allison as a person who can represent for all of us the free spirit of youth who gives us the gift in both her life and death of knowing how important living one day at a time is We only have this moment to share and we must make the very best of it As friends we must support each other and be sensitive to grieving and loss Life is short love is long The flag flew at half mast at the Georgetown and District High School Monday in memory of the untimely death of one of its students Allison Schultz 18 died follow ing a twocar collision Boxing Day which also injured four other peo ple Ms Schultz was air lifted to Sun Hospital but died shortly afterwards Ms Schultz s brother Greg 21 and Georgetown residents Monica Kerst Phyllis Kerst 56 and Kyle were all treated and later released from Georgetown and Distnct Memorial Hospital The accident occurred on Boxing Day in Guelph Ontario Provincial Police say the vehicle driven by Ms Schultz went out of control and collided broadside with a vehicle driven by Ms Monica Kerst FLETCHERS FAMILY SHOES Annual WINTER CLEARANCE SALE Storewide Savings Dont Miss Out SALES and SERVICE GUARANTEED SERVICE WITH ALL SALES 8773405 FLETCHERS FAMILY SHOES THE FOOT PROFESSIONALS 8771664 MAIN ST S DOWNTOWN GEORGETOWN
