and Dan Aykroyd were being considered for the role so I thought thats the end of it for me But the director decided to cast me after all last film Colon which directed and starred In was a boxoffice hit Why didnt direct Flashback as well A It was never of fered to me to di rect I think thats just as I really like concentrating on just my role That was enough without directing on top of It Yoa were the Sean of the 60s and 70s Did your badboy repu tation hurt your career A It devastated my career After I got sober I did three films back to back without taking a break Then I got on the cover of Vanity Fair and discussed being sober Then Sean arranged for me to direct Col ors and everything is back on track How many years of productivity as an actordirector do think you lost to drug and alcohol abase A About 15 years I think its terri ble I should have directed probably movies by now and Ive only made six I would have directed a movie a year if it werent for drugs and alcohol replaced it with a score that was totally wrong for it They actually put back in foot age that I had cut out They destroyed the onscreen relationship between me and Jodte Foster They cut out all the
