Norval News Euchre winners Farmer Louisa Alexander dies By KAY Correspondent Sincere sympathy is extended to the family of Louisa Alexander who passed away at the Halton Centennial Manor on April 13 Dear wife of the late Mac Alex ander formerly of RRI loving mother of Jean and her husband Gordon of St Pauls Jessie and her husband Joel of Milton Ernie Alex ander of Norval Margaret and her husband Ron Duncan of Brampton and Bill and his wife Susan Alexander of Norval Predeceased by her daughter Mary Lou RobinsonSolechi and her son Douglas Also survived by 14 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren Dear sister of Frank Jack Fred and Newton all of Georgetown Ann Klaham of California and the late Jessie Stark Louie was in her year and had not enjoyed good health for the last few years Following their wedding anniversary in May and the sudden death of her husband Mac the following December she continued to live with her son Ernie for another l years before retiring to the Halton Centennial Manor However in earlier years Louie was a busy homemaker assisting her husband with their Jersey cows and dairy operation and was keenly interested in her community and all farm organizations She was a member of the old Farm Radio Forum later Community Club and hosted weeklong Folk Schools for young farm people Louie could see the value of goats milk for health purposes and acquired a herd of Saanen goats Within no time she was selling goats milk to health- conscious people Her name soon became known throughout the province and northern as a judge for goat shows Louie had an apiary again for the value of honey as a health food and opened her own Alex anders Health Food Store in Brampton which she managed for many years Louie along with her late hus band were members of the Georgetown Agricultural Socie ty Federation of Agriculture Jersey Breeders Brampton Senior Citizens and always en joyed a good game of euchre She was a member of United Church Funeral service was from the JS Jones and Son Funeral Home in Georgetown on April Rev Stephen Fetter con ducted the service Interment was in Hillcrest Cemetery Nor Pallbearers were her grand sons Gary Zuest night euchre party Vicepresident Bill Brander chaired the presentation and with a few well chosen words called on Kay Wilson to read a short address Grace will be mov ing to Sundridge after spending over 50 years on their farm at Steeles Avenue and the Ninth Line Grace has been an ardent supporter of the club and best wishes were expressed by all to a true friend and neighbour Prairie and Irene Hunter presented Grace with a couple of highback deck chairs with water repellent foam cushions Graces son his wife Diane and family Jason and Jen ny will be moving to their new home on Highway west of Road Their 1 acre lot adjoins Bill and Cylvia Brains farm who were former Ninth Line farm people Winners for the seven tables of euchre that preceded the presen tation were Mable Brownlow Anne Wilson Irene Hunter and Keith Webb Lucky draw was Bill Brander courtesy of Webbs Flowers Lunch concluded the presentation evening Music scholars Students of Joyce Hutton Studio won four scholarships in the vocal section of the Peel Music Festival held at Cyril Clark Theatre in Brampton last week Holly Verhaegen of Georgetown and Andrea Skeen of Brampton shared the scholarship for the most promising in termediate soloist Stephen Teves of Brampton won the St Lawrence Starch Company Scholarship for the most promising soloist in the age classes Merry Anne Hutton of Norval won the Lions Club scholarship for the best Junior Vocalist 14 years of age and under Congratulations to these promising vocalists They will be presented with their scholarships on Sat April 28 at the final con cert Threeweek trip Hyatt and Charlotte McClure of Norval have returned home from a threeweek motor trip to the west where they visited with Derek and Carol of Gem Alberta and motored on to Calgary to visit with their daughter Mable and her husband Jim Lebo and grand children and Nicole Sympathy extended Lynda Shaw of Huttonville whose wellbeing Is on the minds of people across a wide area of the province had prayers said for her and her family at Hut tonville United Church last Sun day Lynda was last seen when she left her Huttonville home on Easter Sunday night to motor back to Western University at London When she did not arrive for exams on Monday her classmates phoned her home Her car was found by police on Tuesday along the near Woodstock Her family were anxiously awaiting word on the discovery of a womans body in a farmers field near the Dorchester Road at press time Sincere thoughts are with her parents Carol and Murray Taylor Windermere Muskoka brother Graham and grand
