Georgetown 8772761 Volleyball tourney gets top marks Friday Georgetown District High School held an Invitational Elementary School volleyball tour for boys and girls ranging from grades The schools involved included Robert Little Stewart town George Kennedy and Joseph Gibbons The tournament was played in a round robin rotation giving each team a chance to show their skills and sportsmanship as a team and as individuals Sandy Weeks a grade student at G D H S ran the oneday tour nament as a part of her OAC Ed course The main goal set for the tournament was for the kids to have fun and to establish friendly competition After seeing the results of the tournament I felt I had accomplished my goal and all the hard work put into organizing the tournament had paid off The experience was very rewarding There were several awards handed out to the teams Each team received individual ribbons according to their place in the dings and 1st 3rd place took a team plaque back to their school For the boys teams Stewart town placed first with George Ken placing second and Robert Little following close behind with a third Joseph Gibbons The first place girls team was alsoStewarttown George Kennedy took second and Joseph Gibbons third Robert Lit tie Pineview the other awards went to the two for the tournament Receiv were Kelly Truman from George Kennedy School and for the boys Steve McDonald from Robert Little In order for Sandy to set the stan for friendly competition she decided to hand out a Most Sport Team trophy for the top boys and girls team showing the most sportsmanship This was a really hard deci sion she said Every team showed so much enthusiasm and sportsmanship it was to pick just one from each division However the decision was made and for the girls School won with lots of team spirit The George Kennedy boy s took home the trophy for their great and support for the girls SANDY WEEKS a Grade student at Georgetown District High School organized Friday public schools volleyball tournament staged at GDI1S as part of her OAC Physical Education course The tournament was hailed as a tremendous success by all those invoked and obviously Sandy pictured above
