chance to appeal the decision at an upcoming Ontario Municipal Board hearing But no hearing date has yet been set The Acton park is to be the new home for residents now living in Nerval Willow Park That park is being expropriated by the Credit Valley Conservation Authority because of flooding hazards Regional council voted last Wednesday to grant Christine and Trevor and Jane Roza request to be allowed to ap peal the towns plan to the OMB Representing Ms the Roza and other residents for trip Mayor Rubs Miller presented a cheque for 500 from the Town of Halton Hills to Barbara and Sheila Willis or the Georgetown Choral Society in the council chambers last week The money will be used to help sent the choral society on a 10day trip to Holland The Choral Society also had a draw to raise their water supply He questioned the Region deci to test for the availability of water on the site last May Ac cording to the Region report and the ministry of environment there is sufficient water to supply the new mobile homes and those of the neighboring residents But Mr Elliott said the tests should have been done in August During June July and August part of the site can be used by a maximum of 225 campers The Region therefore should have carried out the water tests during August the peak of the camping season Mr Elliott told councillors he acknowledged the need for more housing throughout the Region but housing of this sort should only happen on property hooked up to the town water and sewer services he said Halton Regional councillor Joe Hewitt seemed to support the tion of the town s three other Regional representatives when he tried to appease Mr Elliott s con saying the ministry of en vironment the Town of Halton Hills and the Region have all done studies that show sensitive area he said The United Nations recently declared the escarpment as a biosphere reserve area The Ministry of Municipal fairs is responsible for land use planning And since the NEP and the Regional and town official plans now all conform the en vironmental uniqueness of the escarpment overrides the planning aspects explained Mr Elliot Town councillor Joe Hewitt who made a bid for the Halton North nomination in 1988 said day night the Ministry of Municipal Affairs is the most ap propriate provincial ministry Mr Hewitt was one of many North Halton Liberals attending day night s escarpment come under the Ministry of Municipal Affairs when this is the case for any other land severance The province s Minister of Municipal Affairs John Sweeny who was the guest speaker at Wednesday night dinner said the province s decision was partly bas ed on the public s perception that the NEP would be better served under the environment ministry The minister also pointed to the United Nations recognition of the escarpment as a biosphere and the upcoming fiveyear review of the plan as two other reasons for he switch Mr Elliot was pleased the budget has provisions to help the
