weekend In Fredrlcton New Brunswick The West Side Rangers squad had a Georgetown flavor as Randy Bond and David Sands Grade students at GDHS were members of the team Pictured above left to right Randy Championships held In Fredericton New Brunswick Randy Bond and David Sands who are grade 9 students at Georgetown High School are members of the West Side club team Twelve teams were divided into two Toole West Side played round robin bestof three games in Pool A against Pasadena Newfoundland Sherbrooke Quebec Charlottetown Prince Edward Island Ste Anne New Brunswick and Richelieu Quebec The teams in Pool represented London Ontario Nicolet Quebec Newfoundland Dart mouth Nova Scotia Bathurst New Brunswick and the Islander team from Prince Edward Island West Side Rangers were undefeated the Pool A round robin placing them first place In the semi final contest the West Side team met the second place Pool B team Nicolet Quebec Once again it was the best 2out match with West Side winning a tight match and 154 At the same time in the other semifinal London defeated Richelieu to set up two Ontario teams to play for the gold medal This matchup was a repeat of the Ontario Championship which saw West Side win the gold medal 150 The gold medal round was a best games Lodon Attack was determined to win at least one game and go from there West Side wanted to maintain its undefeated record London s wish came true by winning the f game West Side had to dig deep and change their strategy to take the next 3 games 1511 and 152 West Side Rangers won the gold medal and the East Championship London won the silver medal and Richelieu won the bronze This tremendous win closes the season for West Side as there isn t an East West playoff in the midget division The West Side team finished on top and Trafalgar High School journeyed to Georgetown and handed the host team a 190 defeat The twin losses drop the senior Rebels record to 120 for two points in East league play and in danger of missing the heartbreaking tiebreaker their final three match and had to settle for third place in their championship division one placement out of qualifying for provincial in badminton honors The GHAC
