competed in Junior and In categories with and 34 competitors respectively Junior category gymnast Ken dra Jones captured first overall for the second consecutive year Intermediate gymnast Shannon send local bicyclists to the sidewalk walking their bikes along Acton Village Constable Bill Riddle said I strongly recommend especially for children on a to walk it on the sidewalk he said The reason for this is because of the narrow road that runs through Acton he said Const Riddle issued the warning before today s Optimist Bicycle Rodeo to be staged at Prospect Park The have arranged to have the After June if a bicyclist is caught on the sidewalks he or she will be ticketed Const Riddle add Bicycling on the sidewalks creates a hazard for people coming out of stores he said Many seniors using the sidewalks could be in danger from bicyclists Const Riddle said But its not Just bicyclists Const Riddle will be keeping a careful eye on Dnvers may be charged for opening their doors without check traffic Const Riddle said There is always a concern among bicyclists about people swinging open their car doors without check ing for bikes but a bicycle is a vehicle and therefore traffic he said A recent change in the Highway Traffic Act forces bicyclists to identify themselves when asked by a police officer he said to this changing if a bicyclist was stopped but refused to give his or her name select a max of one player from each team 1990 OHL PRIORITY SELECTION The Priority Selection of eligible midget aged hockey players will be held for the tenth consecutive year at the North York Centennial Arena 580 Finch Avenue West in on Saturday May 26 at 10 30 a m The arena is located just west of Street on the north side of Finch and the public is most welcome to attend the Selections The Detroit Ambassadors have the first selection followed by the Dukes of Hamilton Windsor Spit fires and Sault Ste Marie Greyhounds The Ambassadors are the s newest team after being granted an expansion chise on December 1989 and as a result of the terms of expansion Detroit receives the first pick overall and the first selection in each subsequent round In Detroit receives the last selection in rounds four to seven for a total of 10 selections in the first seven rounds The OHL Priority Selection system gives the teams who fail to make the playoffs the right to select ahead of teams making the playoffs regardless of the number of points in the final standings The playoff teams then select in reverse order of finish of their final regular season standing This season there were two ties for positions in the Priority Selec tion order with the ties broken using the head tohead won lost records of the tied teams Windsor Spitfires received the third selec position over Sault Mane Greyhounds by virtue of the Soo winning the season series over Windsor The London Knights took the 15th selection spot as a result of the Oshawa Generals sweeping their season series Both
