Reorganization is now McFadyen selected as coach Herald photos by Colin Gibson By COLIN Herald Sports Editor Georgetown Chrysler Raiders Junior B hockey team general manager Joe Walsh announced Wednesday afternoon that long time Georgetown resident and former professional hockey player Gary McFadyen has been named the team s new head coach replaces former Raider head coach Peter Sturgeon who is no longer with the organization In a related Walsh revealed th t Smith has been named an assistant coach with the team replacing Gary Ford who will remain with the Raider organization in a scouting capacity Walsh stated that no decision has been made regarding Jay son who served as an assistant coach with last year s edition of the Central Ontario Junior B Hockey League entry The Raiders had a dismal season finishing a distant last in the West Division of the Central Ontario Junior B Hockey League managing just points in games on six wins and three ties The Raiders were ousted in six games by Streetsville Derbys in an opening round playoff series In a telephone interview McFa dyen expressed delight at being selected the Raiders new head coach I m very pleased he said I was interested in are ex peeling their first child McFadyen played minor hockey in Georgetown up to midget level and played major junior hockey for Hull in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League He was drafted in the third round by the NHL Toronto Maple Leafs in but from a couple of cups of coffee in exhibition games never reallv saw any National Hockey League action He played minor professional hockev for five years with stops in Dallas and Tulsa of the Central League and Milwaukee Dayton and Muskegon of the International League McFadyen was an integral part of the 1981 82 Hardy Cup winning Georgetown
