Georgetown Juvenile baseball team gave their pitcher some run support beating Streetsville on Wednesday evening Juveniles coach Rick Hume said the standings havent been up dated recently but believed the win moves the team into sixth place just ahead of Oakville There have been a lot of in the last while for some teams and we only get a standings list once per month so its hard to say for sure The coach did know that his team played well especially pit Brad Mora who managed to go the distance allowing eight hits while striking out six and handing out just three free passes It really helps us out when our guys can go the whole nine innings since it saves them from extra work We play our next game against Streetsville on yesterday but I m not sure if 1 11 put Mora in again The games turning point came in the sixth inning when the Juvenile team sent men to the plate scoring seven runs to run the count to 154 Travis Gardner led off the inning with a walk Jeff Hannah followed with a ground out and Kevin Usher reached first thanks to a catching error by the left fielder Scott Vandervalk popped out to second base but the Georgetown squad then caught fire scoring seven runs before Streetsville could notch the final out in the inn ing The roof started to cave in when Steve Lee singled to score Gardner from third Dave Ridley followed with a single right up the middle of the diamond to score Usher and Lee The inning could have ended when Rob Ross grounded to the third baseman but the guy threw the ball past first base when all he had to do was turn and tag out Ridley who was right behind him said Hume Jim English singled up the mid die next scoring two A little later Doyle walked to load the bases setting the table for Travis Gardner who walked to force in a run Jeff Hannah grounded out to end the Inning It was a tough inn ing for Streetsville having gone through two pitchers and five of them in the whole game said Hume The game had started out even with neither team getting on the board in the first Streetsville scored three in their half of the se cond but Georgetown replied with three of their own to tie it up The home side took the lead for good in the third inning when they scoied two runs They scored another in the fourth and two in the fifth while Streetsville managed to reply with only one The visitors didn t manage to score in their half of the sixth but Georgetown did scoring their seven markers and trashing the opposing pitching staff With the score 154 came back with two runs in the seventh but the home team duplicated that effort to maintain their 11 run lead though they did allow one unanswered run in the eighth before the game ended After Fridays game against Streetsville the Georgetown team is scheduled to play at the Fairgrounds against at 1 30 p in a makeup game before heading out to play at that night against been playing a few headers to get caught up on our rainedout games but Im not too worried about it since we have almost two weeks at the end of the regular season to schedule them as well said Hume similar ages and abilities It costs for each team three players and an alternate which must be registered
