About five weeks ago an Acton resident found four threeweeold kittens in a ditch covered mud and manure and brought them to the Acton Veterinary Clinic at 10 River Street Clinic employees teamed up to nurse the kittens three males and one female back to health feeding the kittens bottled milk Now the eight week old kittens already vaccinated and dewormed are ready and waiting for a good home It is a difficult position for the clinic to take said Jane McKay an employee at the clmic The clinic treats injured animals but in help ing these kittens there is no pay ment involved she said The work involved in nursing the kittens back to health was done out of the goodness of everyone s hearts Mrs McKay said On several occasions employees of the clinic have taken the tiny crawlers home on weekends to babysit them Its the clinic decision whether to euthanize the kittens or give them a fighting chance by feeding and caring for them she said Mrs McKay said she becomes frustrated and angered when she hears of people abusing animals but said it is difficult to lay blame when the whole story remains unknown These animals can tell us what happened so we just feed and look after them she said The clinic is willing to give away the kittens to anyone who can pro vide a good home The clinic is also open late on Tuesdays and Thursdays until For further information contact Acton Parry Sound between August 1924 to increase awareness and understanding of international issues and to enhance leadership skills for today young adults Supported by the Canadian In ternational Development Agency the conference will give youths the opportunity to learn about en issues developing countries natural disasters and even human rights first hand said Conference Paul Miss Paul said the conference is an opportunity for youths to meet people from other cultures while expanding their knowledge of global issues Miss Paul encourages all youths interested in global issues to par in the conference because they will learn the appropriate skills in order to initiate involve ment in their own communities Two Woodstock students held a dance last year and raised for Child Alive a rehydration pro gram in developing countires she said Students attending the con ference will travel from London Thunder Bay Timmins Windsor and even as far as British Colum and Alberta said Miss Paul More and more young people want to know what they can do to make a difference said Miss Paul The conference is useful because it opens a lot of doors if youths want to get invovled One of the main reasons young people dont get involved is start Miss Paul said But her ad vice is that you can do little things If everyone does one thing to make more people aware then it becomes a big thing Anyone
