Trout Farm Major Tykes finished the regular season on night with an upset win over Milton Due to a Slo Pitch tournament the game was played at one of the smaller diamonds with a wall of trees in left Gibbons were on vacation along with rookie John Gibbons Speedster Daniel Young got Georgetown started in the first inn when he walked and promptly stole second and third Daniel then took of a careless throw back to the pitcher and stole home with the home team first run Kevin followed up with a walk and a stolen base and Doug Boomer brought him home with a triple In the top of the second inning Young was again a factor as he threw out a Milton runner trying to steal third He had the ball in Humemski s glove before the run ner had begun his slide In the bottom of the inning Georgetown scored four runs to take a lead RBI went to Ryan Smith double Garrett Norman and Humemski Young stole home for the second time two innings The home team was shut out for the next innings and allowed Milton to close to 64 In the bottom of the fifth Andrew Beavan and Isaac Ferguson counted RBI to give the good guys a lead they t relinquish In the sixth inning the Trout Farmers added three more runs on a double by Norman and a lot of heads up base running Andrew Nelissen grounded out but both Young and Norman raced home on the play Later Humemski ground out scoring Mike Kelly with run number Even though Georgetown was ahead by six runs entering the final inning last seventh inn ing collapse was fresh on the player s minds It didn help when the first bat got on base with a single Mike Kelly looking as fresh as he did when he started induced the next batter to ground out then a base on balls put runners at the corners with only one out Kelly who was as cool as a cucumber fanned the next hitter with a curve ball the Milton player is still looking for With two out up stepped Milton s clean up hitter who in his last at bat had crushed a ball so high up in the trees over the left fielder head that was ruled an automatic home run With all of the armchair quarterbacks myself included calling for a walk Kelly went right after him and struck him out on four pitches Daniel Young six stolen bases including home twice his winn ending throw out of a runner stealing third and his four assists would give him sole Player of the Game honors any other week However that honor was shared this week with Mike Kelly Mike pitched the entire innings allow just runs and stnking out an incredible batters The team next action will be in the AllOntario which take place in September ELECTION
