THE HERALD Wednesday Angast 8 1990 Letters To The Editor- Off icial town plan being ignored claims writer Dear Editor After reading an article printed in a local newspaper on Wednes day July 18th on page I would like to ask a few questions Mr Fred Harrison stated There are a total of 266 apartment condominiums available of which 57 have been tentatively sold How can there be any con dominiums available to ten tatively sell when Mr Zupets application for rezoning and ap proval to build condominiums have not been passed How can Mr Hamson stop and or be sure that there are no speculators among the purchasers of the units tentatively sold Mr Harrison do you not think you and your organization are jum ping the gun by selling con dominiums that have not been ap proved Buyer Beware I If this application for rezoning this site from single family dwellings to multiple dwell ings is approved it is only a matter of time before longtime residents of Maple Avenue are squeezed out to make room for the spread of the cancerous like development Family Coalition Party wants real issues to be addressed Dear Editor When are the Provincial Liberals and Tories going to wake up and address all the issues that matter to the people of Halton and Ontario The local papers recently covered numerous issues of con cern to the people of Halton What do Walt Elliot and Dave Whiting have to say on these critical issues Nothing it would seem In stead last weeks paper quoted them arguing about the Stan- affair and whether or not an elec tion should be called It would be funny if it wasnt so disappoin ting Waste disposal Ontario is runn ing out of space for its garbage Yet in rural recycling is still inconvenient if not impossible Waste can be reduced by two thirds immediately An even greater reduction would be possi ble if leadership were provided What do the Liberals and PCs have to say about it Sunday shopping A majority of the people of Halton appear to be opposed to Sunday shopping Yet Mr Whiting has so far not been quoted on the issue and Mr Elliot suggests that the people of Halton vote with their What leadership Unfortunately for Mr Elliot they may vote with their ballots instead Abortion Prolife sentiment is very strong in Yet this year once again over 50 unborn children will die right in Milton as a result of abortions done in that hospital one abortion for every seven live births To add insult to this grave in jury prolife supporters have recently leanred that Halton Womens Place once established to assist battered women and children also acts as an abortion referral agency at times based on ly on the briefest of phone calls And all of this with Provincial fun ding from the Ministry of Com munis and Social Services Reunion planned Dear Sir This coming school year will mark the anniversary of Catholic Secondary School Educa tion in the Belleville area To celebrate this milestone St Michaels High SchoolNicholson Catholic College alumni will Coalition Party was form ed to provide an alternative to the other political parties Our can didate Mr Giuseppe Gon has been active for several years in the environmental movement in Halton As a member of three groups involved Mr Goris opposi tion to Sunday shopping and his good reasons for it were the sub ject of two recent letters to the editor He is not afraid to take a stand on the issues Mr Gon gives his full support to those who would see an end to abortion at the Milton hospital and an increase in funding to groups who support pregnant women and promote alternatives to abortion And Mr Gon shares the commitment to traditional family values and has an role m shaping this commitment as the Deputy Leader of the Party If you agree that the local can didates ignore the real issues con fronting the people of give us a call We believe you will find the Family Coalition Party and Giuseppe Gon a refreshing alter native Sincerely Paul Creighton Campaign Manager Family Coalition Party North Constituency SHOPPING SPREE VALUE STORE LIMITED EDITION PRINTS GIFTS CANDLES CUSTOM FRAMING 1 24 Main St S GEORGETOWN 8777654 The proposed rezoning of the Maple Avenue site will be stating to existing and future residences of Georgetown that no area designated or R3 by the of ficial plan is safe from rezoning and hirise development Residents may be paying Rl taxes only to find a development sprouting up in their front yard A dangerous precedent will be set by the Maple Avenue rezoning The Town will be sending a loud message to developers the Georgetown is ripe for the pick ing and to rezone in Georgetown for the sake of the developers pro fit is an easy obstacle for them to over come How will this proposed future condominium development benefit the residence of Georgetown The only benefactors will be Mr Zupet not a resident of Georgetown Mr Harrison and his other associates involved in this propos ed development Georgetown is a beautiul town it will be a shame if one of the most scenic entrances to the town becomes a Alley We as citizens of Georgetown are responsible for making a clear statement to the town that we are not anti development but we de mand preservation of our existing neighborhoods and responsible development in the areas designated by the official plan In closing I would like to question as to why our tax money has been invested in an official plan if the Town chooses to ignor it What a poor investment Yours truly Jane M Cliff Editor Colin Gibson receives another letter from a concerned reader OPEN 96 Fridays 99 SUSSMANS
