Page THE HERALD Developer to erect fence Mayor requests company reconsider decision In response to a decision by the Burlington based development firm and Associates to erect a fence around the com s Maple Avenue property located beside the North Golf and Country Club in Georgetown Hills Mayor Miller has sent a letter to the company requesting that it aider its decision the Herald has learned Mayor Miller sent the letter Aug 21 arguing a fence would detract aesthetically from the neighborhood as well it would contribute to an already strained relationship between the company and the residents and Associates own the property at 327 333 and 339 Maple Avenue and earlier this year sub mitted a proposal to the town to build two condommium apartment buildings The company vicepresident Tom said in an interview the company has yet to receive the mayors letter But the plan is to still go ahead and erect a fence he confirmed Acknowledging the town has no legal jurisdiction to prevent for spectators having lots of action ending with the final low score of that could have gone either way dunng the whole game It was Sandra Prouse that got the last 3 outs in the inning to secure the win She snagged two hard hits at her from the pitchers mound and then hurtled the throw to 2nd base where Sharon Marshal was waiting to get the forced out The 3rd out came when Sandra Legion Lines still be visible from the street Clovic Roy president of the Residents Against Development and Destruction A D disagrees with the mayor saying a chain link fence is inappropriate because there are no chain link fences in the neighborhood A white picket fenced would be more appropriate said Mr Roy But he predicted the company would never build this type of fence predicting it would be too costly Mr said the company plans to build a solid wooden fence Weve got to protect our proper ty the developer argued Under normal circumstances said Mr Zupet as soon as the com purchases a piece of property a fence is erected to protect it against vandals and the company against possible law suit if so meone otherwise walked onto the property and was injured The company originally agreed not to install a fence in the spirit of cooperation with the town and neighbors he said The mayor con finned that the developer had agreed at that time not to erect a fence But in recent weeks explained Mr Zupet the house at 333 Maple Avenue has been illegally entered The company plans to donate the house to a profit group but the house will be worthless if the in- sides are vandalized he said The developer also stated trees and flagstones have been stolen from the property As well people have been dumping garbage and soil on the property he said Mr claims some of the problems can be attributed to the neighbor ing residents Mr Roy comment say ing he was unaware of the issue at this time Mayor Miller expressed sym pathy with the developer s pro blems but said a solution will only be found through
