Recent weeks have shown an agitation by some local residents about the increase in the moves by property developrs There is con to be anxious The developers generally are interested in one thing and one alone to make more money and profits Even at the ex of the community I recall a number of years ago I was accused in print without prior knowledge of attempting to take the home owners very lawns for soccer fields The accusation was of course completely untrue However we must be careful If the developers have their way and with a great deal of support from the inner councils of local govern ment the developers may win out at the expense of community re quirements Regardless of soccer by far the largest of single group tions all outdoor sports and recreations should be wary and be alarmed at the growth of all ap plications for development Almost every little space seems to be earmarked for property development Just look around you Although not totally aware of other groups requirements and current facilities I am aware of soccers current and future re quirements We are down to two socalled major fields in Cedarvale and goes to development very soon Joseph GibbonsMoore Park is not suitable as a major field Within the next few years we shall have the south fully and shall require more fields capable of taking all entrants Surveys of smaller communities without recreational and sporting facilities have shown that more hooliganism and vandalism arises where a distinct lack of facilities are available to the people This past weekend a four wheel ed vehicle was driven across and damage was caused to light standards at the same premises The ground allocation south of town in the Hallows better be made available or we have serious problems Moving on The first round results
