Limehouse baseball season With just the semi finals and championship games to wrap up the president of the Limehouse Men s Softball League said the season has been so successful thai new teams will be added to the pre sent eight squads next year President Karl Killingbeck sale most of the current teams carried close to the full player they were allowed and there seemed to be enough interest from others in the area who wanted to join We II be accepting applications for new teams in the spring There are a couple of teams from Milton who may jom as well as some peo ple in Georgetown which t had Herald Special Congratulations to the bantam boys for mg both the league and playoff championships The for the first time in years the bantam boys have brought home the elusive hardware After starting year with a 3 record the boys went on to post a 144 season good enough to win the Halton Rural Minor Softball Association title In the playoffs held in the town of Kilbride on Aug 10U the team posted a perfect record to claim the championship Gamel Aug 10th vs started quickly in this game a run the first inn Ing Limehouse got their bats going in the second inning scoring four runs on five hits along with three walks They scored three more runs in the third inning on three walks sacrifice bunt and three hits This was all the sconng they needed to post a victory over the team Game Aug Limehouse vs Cheltenham This had to be the most exciting game played all year Limehouse scored first in their bottom half of the first inning scoring two runs for a quick lead Cheltenham came back in their half of the second inning sconng 2 runs to tie the game would have none of this so they scored three runs in their next at bat making the score in faour of There was no more scoring until the Cheltenham when they scored two runs to close the score In their half of the seventh inn ing Cheltenham scored one more run to tic the score 55 Extra inn were needed to settle matters Cheltenham scored first in their half of the ninth inning With the game on the line Limehouse came back with a run of their own to tie the game once more The international tiebreaker rule was put into effect in the inning with Cheltenham having first kick at the can They did manage to score the runner from second base to take the lead once more In the bottom of the inning got their bats going once again They scored the runner from second base on a single by Derrick Robson Singles by Mike Fred McDonald and finally Mark Gidden scored the 8th and winning run to end the game Jamie with some sound defence behind him pitched 8 in to pick up the win Game Aug 11 Finals Limehouse vs Cheltenham This game was no contest for the boys from After losing to Limehouse Cheltenham had to play right away against to see which team would qualify for the finals Cheltenham won this game 1613 which means they played a lot of ball in very warm weather After a short breather Cheltenham was ready to take on the boys from Limehouse once again Limehouse fresh after a three hour rest jumped all over the Cheltenham pitching gaining a lead after only three innings Cheltenham game as they were just didn have anything left after playing two games in a row The final outcome of this cham game was Limehouse 15 Cheltenham Congratulations again to the Limehouse bantam boys and their coaches Fred McDonald and Mark
