dropped by defending league champion Longhorns in a semi final playoff upset the previous week by defeating Kaspers 38 in the championship game of the Georgelown Men Flag Football League played Sunday at Georgetown and District High School mam field The game was close through the first half of play with the Dawgs leaving the field just slightly ahead 1514 at the break The cold damp windy weather played a major factor in the game basically before the contest even started Kaspers took the wind to start the championship tussle but despite two long touchdown pitches from quarterback Mitch LeBlanc were never really able to establish any kind of domination as witness the half time 1514 lead took the wind in the se half and this combined with their faceted offence ran over and through an undermanned Kaspers squad onl nine players away the win The dtdn use their no hud die offense in the league s deciding match but once again pivot John spread the scoring throughout his lineup while also scampering for one major and keeping the Kasper s defence off balance with the threat of his runn ing For some strange reason at the Kaspers helm decided to throw long into he teeth of the increasingly wind in the second and a crucial inlercep lion by the Dawgs Mike Delguidise which led to a touchdown proved the losers doing was almost a repeal of the 1989 league championship game when the bowed to the Longhorns after forsaking the short passes for hell bent for glory long bombs Brad Ferguson had two touchdowns for the Dawgs Pat scored a touchdown and a twopoint convert Dve Clements scored a major Wayne Stasuihs had three points for the winners Al snared a two- point convert while Frank Bruno rounded out the Dawgs scoring by kicking a convert As he has all year Stephan Roy once again proved his worth to Kaspers in the losing cause Roy scored two touchdowns ad ded a twopoint convert and also a pass Louis DePaoli scored a touchdown and added a two point convert to round out Kasper TV league will be holding it awards dinner and dance Saturday night at the Acton Legion and tickets are available from the respective learn reps LIMEHOUSE SLOPITCH LEAGUE Morrow faces Radicals 1990 p m Morrow Carpentry vs Radical Car Club was the toughest riding course that they had encountered and indeed it took its toll with injuries to several riders and the ultimate death of one of the horses from a spectacular fall at the water obstacle However the Canadian team finished unscathed with one of the boys the course with only one stirrup having lost one at the third obstacle A real tribute to the ability of the Canadian This competition resulted in the boys and girls teams placing fourth With their rosettes m hand and still in their running shorts the Canadians boarded a bus to take them across Wales to catch the ferry to Ireland A tnp across the Seat at 3 a found most of the team flaked out on the lounge floor suffering more from the exhausting pace of their trip than the sea sickness most had been worried about Ireland was the host country for the Official International Tetrathlon Competition 1990 The Canadian team was impressed with their tour especially seeing the training of young horses by Irish professionals and staying in the converted stables of a real tie The competition was held near Dublin at the Bel Air Hotel an estate converted to a riding Again the Canadians rode a long and demanding cross country course with skill and courage The girls finished first place and the boys were third Although they had done well scores took a back seat to comradeship and the massed teams one Canadian one American two Irish and two British were a touching sight as they broke out in spontaneous song one country leadmg off and the others joining in as they stood together for photos Many new friendships were made on this and some old ones rekindled and many tears were shed as the teams departed for home Nora and Bruce Bayles of the Caledon Pony Club
