Board of Education if further warnings are forthcoming During a field hockey game against Bishop Reding officials said the length of the grass was hazard to the players Jim Lindsay an official at the junior football game on Wednes day as well as a flag football referee and a player on the field on the weekends said the field had often been in poor shape this year Another official at the game Paul Whyle agreed saying the playing area could be better taken care of It doesn look like a football field now It looks more like a pasture to me principal Bryan Davies said the maintenance is taken care of by the Hills Recreation and Parks department in with the school The school takes care of the irrigation but does not cut or roll the field to flat ten and level it out Bryan Shynal superintendent of parks and cemeteries for the department explained that due to manpower and budget restrictions it was difficult to make sure the field is being kepi in perfect tion For the amount of money and resources we have all the fields are maintained very well Also after Sept l we have little more than half the staff that we did Min ing the summer Shynal added that it was also dif ficult to find a time during the day that would enable the field crews to work on the playing field That field gets the heaviest use of all with the school using it all and recreational groups book ing it in the afternoons and on the weekends It difficult finding time slot available lo get a crew in to cut it before somebody else comes along to use it He did say he had been contacted Wednesday about the situation from the school board s mainlenance supervisor and would be meeting shortlyh to work a solution One suggestion Shynal had was for the school to cut back its use during a certain day of the week or for the department to book fewer recreational groups during a designated time period Everyone likes to perform By USA RUT Herald Speclil Everybody likes to sing may be in the shower in the car
