the Health Department to carry out inspections Regional Council resolution excludes the town s bylaws that deal with heating and smoking and the inspection of food premises Those areas that will no longer be regularly in spected by the Region Health Department include flea markets and barber shops Councillors learned however that the health department will inspect specific areas if requested Regional council approved the resolution in accordance with the provinces Health Protection and promotion Act Subsidy suggestion The town general committee recommended Monday that staff imply for a provincial subsidy of just over million to help meet the cost of necessary road repairs in the community The town can apply for the provincial subsidy under the provinces Public Transportation and Highway Act The dation will go before Council this Monday Legion plots Councillors recommended Monday that the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 120 be allocated additional plots at the Greenwood Cemetery The additional plots if approved by town council this Monday will be paid for Jay the Legions Last Post Fund an dused for the burial of veterans who belonged to the Georgetown branch Renovations recommended Halton Hills general committee Development company facing fines By The Herald Hills Development Cor poration has been fined 162 000 in connection with the construe tion of 22 houses in Stewarttown but questions still remain about how much of this total the town will eventually receive The company was found guilty on 162 charges Thursday during a Milton court hearing for building violations under the provinces Building Code Water Resources Act and the Planning Act The corporation was fined per conviction The charges were laid earlier this year by the town building department The town s Administrator Clerk Dan Costea said how much of the fine money eventually makes it to the town coffers will depend on the development com pany financial status Although Mr has not seen the com pany s financial records he sug gested the company is undergo ing financial difficulty Mr the company has a number of liens against it in connection with the Stewarttown project A lien means that a trade company has yet to be paid the money it is owed for work done on a project Byron Dailey one of the com pany s principal said Monday the company t have enough money to meet all of it obligations He specify if the obligations included both fines and liens He also comment on which obligations the company would meet Mr Dailey was convicted of four charges under the building code at
