Mississauga Road in Huttonville is currently presenting a cabaret style revue a Salute to Broadway featuring youthful Georgetown stage per former Scott Peterson Peterson 19yearsoId is a graduate of Georgetown District High School and performed in Georgetown Globe Production 1989 on the Roof Peter son also performed in the Toronto based production Godspell The broadway salute came about because of the efforts and artistic enthusiasm of Someplace Else manager John Thomas who is also the artistic director of the review Thomas also had a role in last year s Globe Productions ex travaganza Fiddler on the Roof Peterson is ably and energetically joined by Jean Sword and Marg Devine of Brampton and of in the musical tribute to broadway billed as A stroll down memory lane The Salute to Broadway opened last Saturday and continues with performances this Friday and Saturday and as well Nov 30 and Dec The dinner theatre musical package is a very reasonable per person not including tax and gratuity and a gala windup per formance is scheduled for Dec 22 when tickets will cost per person with all proceeds going to the Hospital for Sick Children On the gala night Someplace F Isc staff will be donating their time and gratuities from the evening the Hospital for Sick In all honesty I had of Someplace Flse but in vcars hovering around the environs Hills I had never ven hired to the restaurant A companion and I took in the dinnertheatre production Saturday last at Someplace and overall I was impressed by the whole evening Especially with the staff of the restaurant Someplace Else Catering Manager was on hand to greet people and was a constant presence throughout the evening even giv individual attention to some tables and ensuring that all was well Quite a task considering there were weddings and other gather mgs also going on that evening in various nooks and crannies throughout the establishment The various nooks and it should be noted are part of the charm of the restaurant The dinnertheatre package included a fourcourse meal and my companion and I chose the seafood platter which included salmon lobster and shrimp Although the lobster was a touch on the rubbery side the meal was delicious Compliments galore to the various waitresses who attended our table The timing between entrees was near perfect and the young ladies personalities a combma of and good humor mixed with was a delight An example I enjoy a glass of milk with my meal and am the habit of ask for an ice cube with the milk Mostly because you get your milk first and by the time the main course arrives your milk is warm and has lost its taste Saturday night as is my custom I ordered the usual glass of milk and as the mam course was being served my milk ed with the requested icecube Catering manager Margaret Garrison has done an excellent job with her staff Anyway on with the show My companion and I arrived at approximately and for the two hours leading up to the m start of the review which ran til approximately 11 pm with an intermission were tastefully entertained through dinner and drinks by the three piece Someplace Else house band with the revue s performers providing vocals The Salute to Broadway features song and dance numbers from over 20 musicals spanning years of Broadway history Routines are included from the following shows Starlight Ex I 12nd Street Goes Cabaret West Side Story Oklahoma A Chorus Line Evita Dreamgirls The Sound of Music Annie Get Your Gun Funny Girl and Showboat The performers including Georgetown s Peterson are in deed very talented amateurs This might be the slight rub on the show Having noted that however one is also reminded that the Someplace Else revue is not Stage West and should not be treated as such it is an entertain show performed by amateurs The performers dedication to the task at hand vitality ex and indeed sheer enjoy of being on stage more than make up for the minor flaws that might be picked apart by a more insensitive reviewer All all Salute to Broadway at Someplace Else restaurant is well worth the trip and the tab A fine evening s entertainment A word of however make sure you get
