councillors Committee recommendation will go before council for final ap proval this Monday Residents opposing the development argued as in the past there is insufficient parking to support the plaza and people living in the apartments would be able to see into the backyards backing onto the proposed building They told councillors they would have no privacy if the building went ahead General Committee however chose to support staff s recom mendation to recommend the development application for ap proval Acton Councillor Norm Elliott echoed the opinion of many cillors when he said the developer has been more than willing to cooperate with the town and neighbors so that all concerns are addressed The Charges dropped The Town of Halton Hills was forced to drop charges laid earlier this year against Norvals Croatian Centre Thursday during a Milton Court hearing because of a technicality The centre which is located at Winston Churchill Boulevard and Sideroad 5 faced charges of building a picnic shelter without a building permit Town building inspector John Holmes said the charge had to be dropped because a member of town staff had carried out the necessary tie search on the wrong property Mr Holmes would not name the staff member who made the error For the time being at least the 5 square foot shelter will be permitted to stand said Mr Holmes For the building to come down the Town would have to re lay the charges and the centre would have to be found guilty he explained Town Building Director Ron ShetteM said a decision on laying new charges won t happen until another legal proceeding involv Ing the centre is heard The Halton Federation of Agriculture is appealing a minor variance granted to the centre to build a picnic shelter to the On tario Municipal Board COMB The towns Committee of Adjust granted the minor variance this fall According to the ap plicable town bylaw the centre needed a minor variance and building permit to legally con struct the shelter The federation is appealing the minor variance because the shelter should not be considered minor in nature and it was built without a permit according to the federations letter submitted to
