Glen Eden Ski Area staff preparing for new season HERALD OUTLOOK Saturday December The staff at Glen Eden Ski Area in Milton have been hard at work preparing for the opening of its ski season With the completion of the million snow making project last year the staff is anticipating a longer season If the cold weather permits they will continue to make snow to keep the season go ing as long as possible The ski area has added a large outdoor patio area in both the front and rear of the chalet Wooden benches and picnic tables surround this area for the skiers comfort and enjoyment Lesson programs are quite suc cessful due to the high calibre of ski instructors Doug Leeming the ski school director at Glen Eden has over 100 CSIA certified instructors employed to teach this season Many programs are offered for all ages and abilities In addition to the regular eight week pro grams special programs are of fered Early Bird Clinic Christmas Camps and March Break Camps Glen Eden is located just minutes from Toronto or Hamilton off at Milton Skiing is offered seven days and six nights a week The Glen Eden Ski Area is own ed and operated by the Halton All monies for operation and Side team win Four Georgetown boys helped their team West Side Midget Volleyball Club win a tourna in Vnudreuil Quebec Dec The local contingent of the based rep volleyball team consists of Randy Bond power and David Sands set ter along with two rookies Matt power and Martin Sommer setter Six teams were entered which included Beaconsf Soulanges Digital Breboeuf Bison and Vandreuil Mistral West Side split each match with every team in their pool qualify ing for the semifinal against Breboeuf The West Side team defeated Breboeuf 153 to advance to the gold medal match against Beaconsfield In the first game West Side was down before they put their play together and won The second game was almost a repeat of the first with West Side down early Once again they came back and won West Side is now practicing on improving their game further as they prepare for the Midget Open tournament Jan at Sheridan College and General Wolfe High School in Oakville GDHS Athletes of the Week Two junior Rebel players were chosen as this weeks Georgetown District High Schools top athletes Rich Cook a centre on the basket ball team has been averaging 19 points per for Georgetown Smith is a member of the
