Chapter a cheque in the amount oft On Friday Feb Poppy Chair man of Branch Jean Service Officer Charles with the help of Branch Members John Narey and Ian McDonald delivered the branch a hospital bed recently purchased through the Poppy Fund on behalf of the Red Cross Society for the use of the Halton Hills community The above contributions reflect the many ways the Royal Cana dian Legion is past was Colin Gibsons dad Walter A member of the and Sutherland Highlanders for 18 years Walter participated in the Burma Campaign For three years 1942 to Walter was a Japanese Prisoner of War He was incarcerated in the following camps Medan Northern Sumatra Southern Sumatra Malaya and Singapore Walter is the author of two books one being The Boat Readers Digest published in the 2nd volume of Greatest Stories of the War The Boat under the title Death in the Lifeboat Mr Walter Gibson is presently residing at the Veterans Hospital in London Ontario Walter will come back again Squadron Royal Canadian Air Cadets Report Joe Chairman of the Sponsoring committee and his committee members who are honorary members of Branch 120 held a very well attended Crib Tournament on Saturday in the Legion Hall The team of Sam Snow came in first That same evening Joe and his helpers held a Dinner and Dance Thanks go to all who made dona tions to these events It is much appreciated Joe the sponsoring committee and all their helpers are to be commended for their hard work and dedication to the Legions Air Cadets All proceeds raised go to help 756 Squadron Air Cadets to faciliatate their train ing By CHARLES Service Officers Report The past week was a busy one processing information which may help two of our veterans who had requested assistance from the Veterans Affairs Completed the necessary documentation and forwarded this to the ap propriate authorities and I trust both requests will have positive results My special thanks to John Narey Ian McDonald and to Dave McNeilly for the loan of his pickup you one Sick Report Was not able to visit with Carolyn Hawkins this week but I spoke with her over the phone Her conditions is such that it ap pears she may be in Long Term Care for sometime to come Hope to see her next week Hang in there Carolyn Did get to see Patrick he is walking with the aid of two canes but no dancing for a while yet Eh Pat Managed to visit with Bill Gibbs and although hav ing had some stomach problems he was in good spirits and even signed two of the cards for the personnel in the Gulf Hope to see Gilbert English next week have a chat with him and have
