on the weekend at different locations around the province On Feb 2 Jonathan Burak from Georgetown placed first at as the Milton Heights Mackenzie team defeated Hamilton to Kathy Shier from also did well finishing first on the girls side witha time of 5358 Other top finishers at that meet were Stephen Penman from Milton second and Kyle Martin from Campbellville third For the girls Heather Gathercole from Burlington placed second and Maria from Milton finished third On Feb 3 Angela of Georgetown placed second for the Milton Heights Red team on the girls side with a time of seconds as Michelle from Campbellville finished with a time of out of 32 ladies Local skating trio advance to Markham Three members of the Georgetown Figure Skating Club will be competing at the Central Ontario InterClub competition in March The three skaters Brooke Katie Cochrane and Michael Fedchyshyn each won gold medals at the PeelHalton competition at the Figure Skating Club on Feb 3 helping them on their way to the Central Ontario competition Remenda placed first in preliminary ladies while Fed chyshyn won the mens and Cochrane captured the gold ladies competition Cindy also did well managing a first place finish in pre- ladies Silver medalists were Mark Fedchyshyn in Canfigureskate Major Novice men Peter Johnson in preliminary and junior inter pretive men In ladies and Sarah Hep burn in tournament in Buffalo last weekend managing a 112 record In the first game against the Depew NY Saints Sabres started slowly 10 in the first period before Kyle Artem scored at of the second to tie it up went up but Ryan Young scored with just 29 seconds remaining in the middle frame on a pass from Richard to draw the team to within one With time winding down in the final period Kyle Artem found captain David Lajeunesse the teams leading scorer who put the puck past the Depew goalie for the 33 tie Acton earned its only win of the weekend in their next game played against Cheektowaga Y skating toa victory Lajeunesse and Artem were the big scorers in this game which Sabres again had to come back from an early deficit La jeunesse earned two goals while Artem scored one and assisted on two others scored the first goal at of the second to tie it 11 Cheektowaga went up less than a minute later but Sabres came back with three goals in the third First Ryan Young connected with Sandy Chapman twice in the third before Sabres La and Artem could get another That was all Acton could manage as they were eliminated Sabres return to Ontario Minor Hockey Association playdowns Saturday in Fergus at 400 pm Sabres lead the best of five series 10 and will play game three in Acton on Feb starting at 700 pm Soccer skill The Georgetown Soccer Club is welcoming players of all ages such as this
