matter Builder facing scrutiny over building of cottage ByBENDUMMETT the Herald Georgetownbased builder Don Ricciuto built a cottage in the Silver Creek Valley that is in nonconformity with the Credit Valley Conservation Authority setback policies the Herald has learned CVCA Manager of Resources Marilyn Egar said Friday Mr will be required to move the cottage back from the creek to conform with the 25 foot setback limit or be faced with the possibility of having to tear down the building When contacted Friday Mr Ricciuto said he had been in con tact with the CVCA and he has no problem with moving the cottage back Asked why he built the cottage in contravention of the authon setback regulations Mr Hie auto said he was unaware of there being a problem with the buildings location He explained his cottage replaced another cot tage that was built in the same location Mr Ricciuto therefore assumed he could build his cot tage in the same location SAME DAY TAX RETURNS St Georgetown constructing the cottage The NEC exempted Mr Ric ciuto in 1989 from required development permits At that time Mr in formed the NEC his cottage was to be the exact same size of the one it was replacing On that basis the exemption was granted said Mr Johnston He explained the commission recently obtained plans of the original cottage that show it had floor size of 700 square feet The NEC is concerned
