South Buffalo March Classic hockey tournament last weekend losing all three of their games All games were played at the Holiday Twin Rinks Arena and the Georgetown squad learned quickly that they were up against some talented sleet teams The first game against Lon don was a learning experience for Georgetown as they lost The coaches stressed positional play to the players realizing the level of talent on the opposition teams and the larger ice sur- compared to what they are used to at the Alcott Arena This ice size difference was ap parent between the net and boards which was similar to the European rink configurations Highlight of Georgetowns of fense was a booming shot by Matt Deruchie which slipped past the opposition goalie but not the goal line Georgetown set the pace early in the game against Hamilton but two goals in the first period proved to be a setback Hamilton scored four goals in the second before Grier assisted by Colin Mountain scored the first marker of the tournament for Georgetown In the third Georgetowns An drew Marshall took a pass from Matt Brain and slipped the puck behind the opposition goal tender On the same shift Jim Whorley took a pass from Brain and released a low shot which eluded Hamiltons Hamilton responded with four goals in the third taking the game The final game was played against Bowmanville one of the top rated teams in the tourna ment Goaltender Shawn Kelman who had played solid in the first two games stopping barrage after barrage of shots a number of them from point blank range However Bowmanville won Coaches Mike Marshall George Wilson Keith Whorley and Manager Dave Grier would like to thank the parents for their support and the opportunity of working with the young men who worked hard this season Boys High
