HERALD Wednesday March l Ml Community Huttonville Lions host seniors annual beef dinner By KAY WILSON Huttonville Lions Club hosted its seventh annual hot roast beef dinner on March 8 to p for the senior citizens from both east west of Huttonville south of and north of Steeles Ave in both Peel and Halton Harold welcomed the 120 seniors and explained how their money making projects of the Spring and Fall Craft and An tique Show as well as the bingos they oversee weekly in Bramp ton enables them to donate to Canine Vision in Oakville As well they gave yearend awards to both Huttonville and Schools They donate to Big Brothers Big Sisters Salva tion Army both the Georgetown and Peel Memorial Hospitals Camp Dorset for the kidney dialysis and many others Janice who trains dogs from Canine Vision was there with her Golden Labrador to demonstrate how the dog will stop at curbs etc to enable the blind person to gauge the dropstep It takes a month to train a dog and student They take the student and dog to downtown Oakville and even Toronto to train The Lions Club presented Janice with a 000 cheque for Canine Vision and she in turn presented the Lions Club with an Appreciation Plaque for the charity work they do both in and outside the community Following the dinner many fruit baskets flowers and gifts were given out to lucky winners Janice Sterritt a local young woman from R R Brampton entertained with numerous vocal numbers Following Janice were the World Famous Clawhammers A group of six men with several acts and different costumes kept the crowd in stitches In the last years they have donated to charity Isabel MacKay an old Huttonville School teacher for 12 years thanked the Lions Club on behalf of all the seniors for their great evening and commended them for the
