competition after the long winter season The ladies D interclub team and the junior mixed under 19 squads advanced while the mens interclub team fell short of qualifying The mens B team played 11 matches over the season that ran from October to March GRC won six and lost five matches a record good enough for a third place finish in the standings Only the first two teams advance to the playoffs Their last match was the most notable in that they upset the top ranked team Regency Racquets Club from Brampton Team Major Peewees struggle in TriCounty playoffs After defeating Streetsville on their home ice last month Bruins Major hockey team met stiff competi tion in recent playoff action Ancaster travelled to Arena on Feb 24 and fought the local club to a draw Both clubs were scoreless for the first two periods of action although Georgetown completely controll ed the game outshooting them assumed a lead at the nine minute mark of the third period but Georgetown was able to tie the score at when cap tain Kevin Lumb made a solo rush from his end and scored with 223 left Bruins then travelled to last week where they met a more aggressive opponent Flamboro held a lead late into the third period before David Boere put Georgetown on the scoreboard at the 536 mark on a goal assisted by Scott Lahey and Fraser Thorn Georgetown completes tri- county playdown activity after the Spring Break when they play Oakville on March 21 Chinguacousy on March 23 and finish the season with Brampton at Alcott on March Should they be successful in these games they will play an undetermined opponent for the championship members were Wayne Pakkala Jans Paul Strandberg Allan Murray Jans Boyd Hoccinott and Keith Smith The ladies D team has manag ed to attain one of the four playoff spots in the West held on Mach when the GRC squad will meet a strong contingent from Pine Valley Racquet Club The four member Georgetown team in the finals will be Melanie Jans Keith Smith Owen Jones and Brad Amato The Pine Valley Open Tourna ment held March 810 at the North York Club featured A and B divisions for both men and women Melanie Jans won the ladies A division by defeating Lynne Miller in the final 30
