Pages- EDUCATION WEEK Wednesday May 1 1991 Skateboards and proposed new Mall concern students I think skateboards should be allowed to be taken to school just like bikes They should be allow ed to be taken because there has not been one skateboard acci dent but there have been many bicycle accidents Teachers say that skateboards can get stolen very easily but so can bikes because of a lot of people dont lock them up Skateboards are just another method of getting to school quicker than walking Sometimes it could be the difference of being New Mall The new mall is coming in the Plaza and in it there should be an arcade so kids can go there and hang out instead of being on the streets doing drugs and getting in trouble and they should have a pool so kids under can go It would be open on weekends and and it would cost a dollar for kids and cents for old people By David Lake The new mall is coming to Georgetown It will be put in the Zellers plaza but theyre not tak ing Zellers out but they are taking some stores out The stores they will be putting in are and KMart but I think they should put in a new arcade in Georgetown a bigger one than the Pepsi arcade and they should put it in the plaza so up town people dont have to go all the way down town and they should have games like Super Mario Bros and 3 Held Scott on time or being late I really think we should be allowed to bring our skateboards because skateboardings not a crime Were not even allowed to take our skateboards to so meones bouse that lives near the school If were not skateboar ding we might be out somewhere vandalizing things I think if were not allowed to ride our skateboards to school then people shouldnt be allowed to ride their bikes I dont see why they dont give us a chance I dont think skateboarding should be banned Written by Christian Why cant kids have skateboards in school Kids in our school stilt bring them but they hide them all over I hear our lockers are not designed to fit them but I have seen them in kids lockers They still fit their books and bags in them too The prin cipal said that if it gets stolen it is not the schools fault that the per son who brought it should be responsible Maybe if the prin cipal makes a signing sheet so if anyone steals it Is not the schools fault Then we would be sure that it is our responsibility Napier I think the Halton Board of Education should let students br ing their skateboards to school I dont even skateboard much but I know about people who do I can live with it but they dont even have a day where you could bring your skateboard if you wanted to There are more bike related accidents than skateboard related accidents so why dont they ban bikes They say that skateboards are dangerous but as if someone is going to hit someone over the head with their deck So just get off it and at least let the kids br ing them to school and put them in their locker Thanks Philip Boyd Garden ED CARE FOR EVERYONE in the
