United Church as they celebrated their wedding anniversary The Ashgrove Womens Institute pro vided a beautiful dinner for the family connection at noon and following the meal daughter Grace was C for a short program of humorous recollections toasts by Norman and Gordon Bird and a few add tional memories by John During the afternoon reception that followed in the hall many friends were received who en joyed recalling old times The Mayor of Halton Hills Russell Miller brought greetings and presented a Certificate of Recognition to the honored pie Later assembled guests en joyed an interesting program coordinated by daughter Carolyn Kwan that used the fine talents of some of her friends m the choir at Metropolitan United Church in Toronto The musical quartet consisted of soprano Carolyn Sinclair alto Carolyn Kwan tenor Ming and baritone Gordon Burnett with the assistance of Robert Miller who accompanied them at the piano This quartet wove a lovely musical story about the activities and happenings in the community that involved the young folks of forty and fifty years ago Beginning with the traditional The and Well Gather Lilacs in the Spr ing they continued by inviting everyone to join in singing School Days This gave Gordon Bird an op portunity to reminisce about his years as a student in the at Ashgrove Public School where Ismey taught for a time Then Ward helped the old time members of Young Peoples and Junior Farmers who were present to recall some highlights of their activities in the com munity as they involved John and Ismey before their marriage The quartet responded with A Lover and His Lass A Long Long Trail and Well Meet Again The final duet All I Ask of You by Carolyn Sinclair and Gordon Burnett was a fitting con elusion to a pleasant mterlude
