Page THE HERALD Wednesday May Community 756 Air Cadet Squadron holds annual inspection Two members of the Royal Canadian Air Cadets Squadron in Georgetown were given the Royal Cnadian Legion Medal of Excellence at the Squadron s an inspection held Monday night at the Georgetown Memorial Arena Sergeant Richard Murphy and 1st Class Warrant Officer Alan MacLean were recommended the honor by Captain Jobr MacLean Commanding Officei for the squadron He said Cadet Murphy was an excellent choice for the award because of his dedication to Air Cadets his ability to get along well with his peers and his respectful manner towards his superiors Cadet Murphy joined the squadron in November and has a per cent attendance record In 1989 he was named the most congenial cadet and has received three promotions since he started 1988 he was promoted to leading Air Cadet in he was promoted to Corporal and in advanced to Sergeant Captain said Cadet Murphy has been a member of the Squadron Drum and Bugle Band for the past three years and has participated in the July 1st parade Glen Williams the Georgetown Santa Claus Parade and the Legion Remembrance Day ceremonies For the past two years Cadet Murphy has been the Legion Cadet duty Bugler at the Glen Williams cenotaph and the Georgetown Remembrance Park during Remembrance Day ceremonies The other honoree Cadet MacLean was highly mended by Captain because of his active role in Air Cadets Cadet has had a 100 per cent attendance record for each year since he joined air cadets in He s won an award every year In he was award ed the Best First Year Cadet Trophy in the best drill team member trophy In he was awarded the best junior non commissioned officer trophy and in 1989 he won the Best Dressed Cadet trophy Last year he was awarded the Leadership trophy Cadet MacLean attended sum mer camps completing Basic Training in 1986 Junior Leaders in 1987 Senior Leaders in and received his glider wings 1989 He has applied for the Power Scholarship in and 1991 Captain said Cadet loves cadets and at tends all cadet functions Cadet is also a member of the Squadron Dnll team the Color Party and is presently Squadron Warrant Of Each year Cadet MacLean was present at the Legion Remembrance Day ceremonies as part of the Honor Guard in Glen Williams and Color Party in Georgetown as well as appear at local schools during Remembrance week
