Wednesday Community- Excitement mounting for 153rd anniversary By KAY WILSON the weekend of June 1 and 2 members of Presbyterian Church are looking forward to a family celebration for the anniversary Hie events start with a picnic on the church lawn at pm Saturday with races skits and fun followed by a barbecue at pm On Sunday June 2 at 11 am Rev James will be guest minister along with the a voice mens choir from the Brampton area Everyone is welcome Chicken barbeque The chicken barbeque of Nor vai United Church was held last Saturday with 743 hungry people attending Iva Davidson with her lovely dinner music and Bonkers the Clown both added to the evening for old and young alike Many people worked hard for the barbeque including chairman Brian Evans who along with his wife Pat and two young sons are moving to Parry Sound The Evans were presented with gifts along with everyones Best Wishes at last weeks church service Sunday School Picnic Weather curtailed the outdoor activities for the McKersie Funeral Chapel on May at pm Interment in Hillcrest Cemetery Norvai Leona a dear mother beloved grandmother and loving friend to many people in Milton as well as Norvai where she liv ed for over 30 years played the organ in the Norvai Anglican Church as well as singing in the choir She took an active interest in the com munity and taught for a number of years in Park School Georgetown was a member of the Womens Institute She and her husband Walter farmed on Winston Churchill Blvd the farm home later lived in by the late Amy Burke Some years later they sold and moved to Norvai where they opened a grocery store in the former Chris Grimwood Barber Shop Ill health forced them to sell and build a new brick bungalow on the north side of the east hill going to Brampton Following the death of her hus band Walter she moved to Milton but enjoyed getting back and keeping in close contact with her friends at Norvai and when youd meet her and ask How she was feeling she would reply Well Im just fine and Im so thankful for my good health Leona was a bright star for many people who would other wise be having a cloudy day til she came along Leona will be sadly missed
