Approximately of the company s laborers are picketing while 15 are sitting on the fence and the remaining 17 have crossed the picket line to continue working for an average wage of 82 The picketers say isn t high enough When the whistle blows the guys have to be in their positions They have to get per mission to go to the washroom They work as hard as auto plant workers but get half the wages said the union leader Andy Sher man He wants the workers to receive the normal wage in crease across the board of to per cent But the company has placed a oneyear wage freeze on the workers Before negotiations began the company was asking its workers to take a roll back a three per cent cut in pay said Mr Sher man but union members got that issue off the tables Other issues the workers are striking for include keeping the wages paid weekly instead of every two weeks an introductory dental coverage offer and the re wording of items in the contract They say they ve already drop ped the idea of trying to get full benefits and casual days off Management with the company refuses to comment on bargain or the One manage ment official said he wanted to keep the strike low profile Mr Sherman said spirits are high among the workers whom he said have a very organized and disciplined agenda Strike chairperson Donna Brownlee said they 11 be picketing until their demands are met and
