the sailors and submariners who sent down in the ships and those who survived in the little ships that saved the day in World War I World War 19391945 Korea The memorial was constructed by DeMone Monuments of Shelburne Nova Scotia from donations raised by the Naval Memorial Committee under the chairmanship of Ron Elliot CDRenfRtdt The three foot square based pillar of smooth grey granite stands eight feet high and is sur mounted by an iron cross sup ported by dolphins The Naval Crest and dedication is etched on the front of the main pillar and large brass plates under a war ship silhouette are mounted on the other three sides The three brass plates manufactured in the Halifax Naval Dockyard with the kind permission of Admiral George Commander Maritime Command contains the names of the 24 warships and eight lost The pillar is set on a two step foundation and the top step is emblazoned with Heart of Oak At the General Meeting held on Thursday June after the opening
