soft soap decanters to paper towels to stuffed toys This in effect means whether your grandparents raised cows or you were born on a farm or even now you are milking thirty cows twice a day you have learned to love these gentle animals To this spirit Georgetown Fair will be presenting on Saturday at 12 noon a junior dairy and beef show that will highlight the heifers of the different breeds A heifer is an cow and the fair will offer confirmation the best class s for calves born from SeptemU r and under The dif ferent breeds the show will en compass are the dairy breeds of Ayrshire red and white Guernsey tan and white Jersey tan Broun Swiss dark beige and black and white or red factor and white and the varying beef breeds some examples being Angus black Hereford red and white Shorthorn brown and white Georgetown air w ill also offer separate open snowmanship classes for the beef and dairy exhibitors aged and under Showmanship is an art that only practise can per feet it entails a young person presenting their calf to its best ad Vantage A person judging showmanship will look for these various qualities from each person showing their calf appearance of the calf cleanliness etc appearance of the exhibitor meat ness pts and the actual showing in the ring the correct leading and standing of the calf 50pts The members of the Livestock committee are expecting to attract entries from the counties of Peel Duf and of course Chairman Jeff se is available to answer any inquires from now until fair time To also interest our local fair goers there will be a hands on display of some mature milking cows for different breeds and baby calves will be available for petting There will be someone on duty to answer any questions the public might have about the cows And lastly a new event has been introduced this year The Georgetown Fair Calf Race Two categories for those under 15 and those 15 and over The object will be to run 100 metres with your calf from a starting lme and finish while still holding on to the of the halter This is not as easy a feat as you would think please picture about a dozen calves running at the same time in the same direction as fast as they can This should be interesting I On September 7th there will be the warmth of the animals the sweet smell of hay and the hopeful talk f the people as they prepare for the show Georgetown Fair welcomes you to Gymnast P Valley Square Dancers GEORGETOWN FALL FAIR KIDDIES PEDAL TRACTOR PULL RULES AND REGULATIONS The contestant must be able to pedal the trac tor without assistance 2 Pedal tractors will be furnished for all pa ticipants 3 All contestants must wear shoes 4 All contestants will be given three chances to get the sled moving from the starting line The pulling tractor must stay between the lines of pulling lane at all times If the tractor leaves the pulling lane the distance will be measured from the starting line to the point where the tractor crossed the boundary 7 In case of a tie there will be a pull oil to deter mine the winner There will be five 5 classes of contestants they are Sunday Both and girls are eligible to enter age limit twelve not exceeding ninety pounds 10 The
