Page the HERALD Community News Wednesday September CVCA big bucks ByBENDUMMETT the Herald The Credit Valley Conservation Authority is set to spend over the next 10 years to better identify its land holdings for the public says Ken Owen CVCA Manager Land Resources The money will go towards replacing old signs now identifying CVCA conservation areas and other land holdings and installing new signs all to increase the profile of the authority various land holdings said Mr Owen The CVCA owns approximately acres of wetland area around the Credit River watershed that the public t know about it he said Publicizing the authority s land holdings explained Mr Owen means more people will become aware of the good things we are doing in and managing the natural en vironment Mr Owen said new signs will be in place in Silver Creek in Georgetown by 1993 and at Terra Conservation Area by 1994 Terra will get a total of 16 signs while Silver Creek will get signs he said Asked why Terra Cotta and Silver Creek won get new signs for several years Mr Owen said the CVCA wants to first complete its masta plan study This study will identify among other things how Silver Creek and the Terra Conservation Area should be used in future When this happens explained Mr Owen the appropriate signs can be installed The master plan study was to have been completed by now However the completion date has had to be pushed back because of the study s million price tag said Mr Owen It hard to justify spending this amount of money during such tough tunes he said Pictured above discussing last Halton Creative Sewing Association on September This association is non profit and comprised of women in the area who would like to explore and share ideas and methods in all areas of sewing shoot one roll of exposure film anywhere the Halton Hills area The pictures can be taken between the hours of 5 a m and on that day but the roll of film must be returned by that night The prints will be developed and returned to the contestants who then choose their four best shots and enter them for judging The judges will choose three prize winning photos and three honourable mentions The Mayor of Halton Hills Miller will choose his favourite to receive the Mayor s Choice Award Prizes are as follows a UP Camera valued at 00 for the top prize a Z UP Camera with date valued at for se cond
