Bonnette was reelected as regional councillor over Wood while town councillors Norm Elliott and Gerald re elected over necomer Claude Said Mr Bonnette I have always considered the people of Ac ton number one and tonight they made me number one after early results were tabulated at Acton Arena He added s first order of business would be to closely look at the budget We need a responsible budget and we must also focus on getting the ap plications in for the Acton Arena so it can be built by 1993 The only incumbent that wasn t re elected was Roger who was beat out by F for a seat on the hydro commission Ward 2 Robson upsets Joe Hewitt In a close race for the Ward Township position of regional councillor newcomer Bill won a surprising victory over incumbent Joe Hewitt Mr didn t sound too sur prised with the results a telephone interview and said this year s win over his defeat in the last municipal election to Mr Hewitt is significant because it indicates that Joe has lost touch with the people The message I received while I was campaigning was he had not kept up communication with the various groups Now that Mr Robson is regional councillor for the ward he said he plans to first meet with the people who elected him and find out from them what the problems are When Mr Hewitt learned he lost he said it bother me in the least that I ve lost Referring to his challenger he continued to say maybe people want a wishy washy politician I never ran to be a politicians politician I ve always spoken out and I ran to accomplish something He pointed to the Hills Civic Centre as one of his ac As for his political future Mr Hewitt remained uncommitted but said he 11 continue to play an active role in the community In the race for the two town conn cillor positions incumbent Spence lost his seat which will be filled by Kathy Gastle who gar nered the most votes Robert will retain his councillor seat Ms said she pnsed displacing one of the in cumbents in the ward Going door Rutherford beat out challengers Tom and Grant by a wide margin Ms Rutherford said she wasnt surprised at being elected Asked why she did so well in the voting Ms Rutherford replied because I represent the of reason and the voice of the people Ms Rutherford said she was p incumbent Anne was also re elected I look forward to working with her and learning from her said Ms Rutherford But it a close race for the Regional councillor seat between Bill and incumbent Pan Johnston B the end of the polling Ms Johnston came out as the clear w in Ward 4 I feel great said Ms Johnston after realizing she had come out as the inner I expected to I done a good job and h ie ted the people People speak m mind on ihe issues she said commissioner Jim Fisher was acclaimed Serjeantson trounces challengers Regional councillor Marilyn Ser proved she still has significant backing in Ward trouncing challengers Linda Walton and Al Realizing she had come out of a tough campaign victoriously Ms Serjeantson
