Herald Saying he was pleased to par ticipate in the opening of a com pany which is effectively com peting in the world market Ontario Premier Bob opened Mold- Masters new engineering research and technology centre Monday Alongside MoldMasters president Jobst Geliert Mr cut the ribbon officially opening the privately funded companys new centre which will research new methods of injection molding and provide seminars on the process for organizations around the world During his speech after the ceremony Premier Rae talked about Canadas position in the world market and how Mold- Masters was contributing to it Im not an engineer or a scien tist but its evident MoldMasters is undergoing research for a better quality product he said Its looking hard at the market and where improvements need to be made He said MoldMasters president Mr Geliert has a special vision in recognizing the importance of employees training educating and skill development as a necessary foundation for prosperity Tying education and business together was a key element of Premier speech Its very clear that while our education system is strong it needs to be even stronger he said There needs to be a stronger link between education and work Lear ning a living and earning a living are common values we have to establish in the school system He said he was confident Canada will get it right but advised Canadians will have to be prepared to make decisions to make it Before ending his comments Premier Rae returned to discussing MoldMasters and said Mr Geliert is a leader as well as a manager governments support but would also like support in terms of going easy on taxes He told an audience of ap proximately 75 businessmen gover nment officials and citizens that MoldMasters has a commitment to innovation and dedication to stateoftheart products Our past successes will no longer suffice for the future he continued Im aware that todays pioneers can be just another statistic tomorrow He said that his goal for the com pany was for it to become a manufacturer of lowcost products and in order to become that alt the processes of the past would have to be examined Hence the new engineering research and technology centre which was the focus of Mondays celebrations MoldMasters has been in Georgetown- since when in creased sales required the company move to a larger facility from its Toronto molding shop At the time of the move Mold- Masters was a custom molding company but when it became one of the early pioneers of a system that injected molten plastic into the mold cavity the company un derwent rapid growth It then evolved into a hightech manufacturer serving injection molding markets worldwide Currently MoldMasters is a world leader in Hot Runner Technology in the plastics industry and serves over 30 countries on five contineits A display of MoldMasters products developed through the years was set up on the ground floor of the new centre for counterparts says Ms Kilmer Michael has resided in Thor- Ontario for years yet he is not new to Halton Region He will be relocating to a Victorian home in the village of Enn After Michael graduated from Secondary School he studied art at Central Technical Art College He then travelled to Europe and the Middle East where he was in spired by varied forms of Ar chitecture Upon returning home Michael realized how much On tario Heritage homes have to of fer as a focus for his talent Although Michael has been ap proached to reproduce his work he has not to date He believes thetruismofart Considering the rising cost of Limited Edition Prints Michael feels that it has made the original art market more affordable Michael does commissions of historical homes that become unique only to its owner Michael is multitalented He owned and operated a prominent gallery featuring only Canadian Artists As a his novel style reflects the mood of the piece presented His photography explores directions in line and shadow His personal interest in the rescue and study of night migratory birds has led him to collect and illustrate over 100 species His first com plete work will be unveiled at his showing at the Halton Hills Library and Cultural Centre Throughout the month of December the Cultural Centre Gallery will be featuring the art Mesure The gallery is open for viewing from December from Acton Food Share Local health nurses visit Georgetown bars Play It Safe This message will be promoted to bar patrons in Georgetown and Milton on Thurs day December 12 1991 Public Health Nurses will be visiting bars to distribute condoms and promote the Play It Safe message The Bar Campaign is trying to generate an awareness among young adults about AIDS Public Health Nurses visited Burlington and Bars in July this year This type of public awareness campaign is very successful and has been done in various cities in Canada It gives Public Health Nurses a chance to talk to a wide
