Sunday January at Branch After opening ceremonies Dolly Noseworthy President of Branch Ladies Auxiliary introduced Rose Green 2nd President On tano Provincial Command Ladies Auxiliary Eastwood Zone B7 Commander Jean Hasselfelt Zone B7 Commander Isabel James Zone B7 Sports Officer Dolly then Legion program still cares By PRO Br The Royal Canadian Still Cares Program This program wishes to ex press the concerns of the Legion that all veterans former service members and their spouses are aware of the benefits available to them and the changes in legisla tion which affect these benefits This program is designed to bring these facts to the attention of the following persons All veterans and former vice members with possible vice related disabilities who have never claimed Previous who have given up after a negative first decision Persons who have pursued their claim all the way previous to 1971 can now start over based on new evidence or errors within the law Disability pensioners who may not the potential of conse quential claims These would have to be attributed to the disability eg additional pro blems Note A further medical examination would be a A theatre of war veteran who is now receiving fractional entitle ment eg increasing problems existing during enlistment flat feet The pensionser who after be ing awarded a pension has mar for the first time and has never applied for additional pen re spouse A widow of a pensioner whose husband has had a negative deci during his life but never ap pealed Remarried widow whose hus band died to the introduc tion of proportionate widows pen sion Remarried widow unaware of the Resumption of Widows pension legislation Veterans and widows eligible for V A and do not know Persons who may be in need of help crisis situations may be eligible for Benevolent Fund benefits Imperial veterans appeals etc K Department of Social Security compensation which was amended in extending the compensation to 1 prisoners escapers evaders Those persons not aware of the Last Sickness and Burial expense aid We Emphasize Do it now Delays in applications for ser vice related disabilities may well mean financial losses The live date of any award is deter mined by the date of the applica or contact with the Pension Commission All information is confidential When stating a claim be frank and cooperative A claimant has the choice of representative Any person who has served in the Canadian Forces the RCMP or in the naval army or air forces of Canada or that persons dependent may apply for a disability pension through the Royal Canadian Legion the Bureau of Pension Advocates or directly to the Canadian Pension Commission Attention Look to future reports which will outline the Pension Act and other benefits available to the aforementioned persons handed the gavel to the Zone Commander Ethel Eastwood then went over the agenda touching on the following subjects inancial Statements Convention in Hamilton Applications for
