ed and several intend to attend There were six topics to choose from such as lawn chair macrame cake decorating Choosing the topics for next years work shops will be decided at the next meeting The topic for this meeting was Family and Consumers affairs The Con- veynor was Alma Sinclair Cur rent events were prepared and read by Betty Kooperdraad The motto Good Nutrition Ballinafad News makes us stronger and makes us live a little longer was given by Margaret Jamieson She reviewed the Canada Food rules and emphasized the pre sent idea of lowering fat content and being aware of content Nutrition can be very complicated There are dif ferent nutrients to be considered if we are to have a perfect diet The committee reports Betty Kooperdraad discussed the high cost of putting food on the table and also the fact that so many people are beginning to rely on food banks and many should becoming more self reliant and learn to use food in a more self sufficient way The food banks may give out Are school breakfasts and community meals the answer We had a guest speaker a local crafts person Mrs who is an instructor who teaches Folk art painting in her home in Ballinafad She has taken many classes and has travelled afar for seminars She decorates on metal wood silk and other materials with acrylics It is a creative art where you make your own or copy designs She showed many pictures and had many objects on display of her talents Her in itiative work included decorative milk cans board boxes coal hangers jewellery cases She shows at many craft shows and Community Service
