long way in cut ting down costs for the ty centre A general meeting for the com munity centre has been set for Tuesday Feb 11 starting at 7 m Flyers have gone out in vi ting people stressing not to de pend on your neighbor to attend express your concerns It is portant for everyone to attend Robert representing Hilton Hills and Dons representing Enn Township will be there to listen and respond to any concerns Among any of your own concerns you may have the fiver asks for ideas and sugges tions on subjects such as fire pro tection neighborhood watch speed of local traffic teen ac tivities dances hall use park facilities ball park lighting hall parking lot neighborhood growth fund raising ideas and the current year budget for centre and park The Hall Board will also be looking for two people attended the monthly meeting of the Creative Sewing Association held at St Andrew s United Church Jan Judging by the interest shown this is becoming a very successful event Martha a from Simplicity presented slides on home decorating ideas Black from Jeffersons gave us the latest on trims and available for the home sewer Lynda a Pfaff representative was there to answer many questions on the operation of a serger Lynda also gave a demonstration on how to use and apply your to the best advantage A display of garments included a beautiful array of lingerie and heirloom sewing many pieces done by first time sewers Bonnie Glass displayed tapestry coats and jackets she had designed using an assort ment of fabrics from upholstery fabric denim and brocade the end results being Church held their meeting on Jan 26 1992 after a pot luck lunch of casseroles salads and desserts Rev Campbell con ducted the meeting with Karen Carney as recording secretary approximately attended he meeting at the home of Gertrude Shortill Betty was charge of the meeting and gave an in teresting introduction to the study book on the geography and history of Japan Hamilton gave the devo tions Norval News Gertrude had on display many Japanese treasures that she has received from her son John who is the Assistant to the Grand Master of Japan included a beautiful kimono fans and hand painted tea sets and tapestry assisted the hostess with lunch and a social visit followed Annual Meeting On Monday Jan 20 1992 Union Presbyterian Church held their annual meeting The meeting was chaired by Rev Mary Campbell and she opened with a reading from Phihppians 2 and prayer committee submitted a report of the happenings was a great year for fast growing Union Church There were nine children four people welcomed into member ship eight weddings took place three of them were members from our own con There were many new welcomed faces in our church As the growth of our church blossoms it is easy to feel and see the enthusiasm amongst the people We at Union are in the midst of an important costly project to our more bit by means of a started fund ng with an enjoyable evening this past tober with a square dance and silent auction We were all im pressed to sec so many people w th a keen aptitude for the dance With the support of many people we hope to see the completion of this project in 1991 Our deepest sympathy goes to the three families of church that lost loved ones in 1991 here were three new elders ordained Ruth Alison Bill Ostrander and David he minister s message to us all stated an uncertain shakey world that we live in but if we all stand together in our com our strength and courage will grow With that we can extend our help far beyond our own territories May God bless us all with increased faith and wisdom to do his work he meeting was adjourned and closed with prayer Plenty of desserts and beverages were then by all 60th Birthday Congratulations to Bernice Ostrander R Georgetown on her Birthday Her daughters Carolyn and husband Frank Roche entertain around family members and friends Saturday evening Jan Her sisters Margaret Fleet and Shirley assisted
