During Wednesdays announce- ment Burton congratulated those present on making a huge advancement in the history and health of Oakville by working together. The decision to implement the pilot project was also praised by the Oakville residents association Citizens for Clean Air (C4CA). C4CA is very pleased. Weve been working to promote air qual- ity for some time. It was the basis of our fight against the power plant. When Dr. Balsillies report came out we pushed really hard to have it supported by the govern- ment and many months later here we are, said Nancy Robertson, C4CA. This is a recognition from multiple levels that we need to do some research on air quality. The fact they have picked this particular location is a recognition of the concerns we have kept bringing forward. Oakvilles business community also welcomed news about the pilot project. Clean air is important to everybody individu- als, governments and businesses, said Mark Brown, chair of the Oakville Chamber of Commerce. So on behalf of our members, we proposed such a pilot project to the Province more than two years ago. Then Minister Wilkinson spoke of the possibil- ity of this pilot while meeting with our Chamber in January of this year. Thats why we welcome his announcement today and look forward to ongoing participation with all pilot stakeholders.
