MICHAEL IVANIN/ OAKVILLE BEAVER A 49-year-old man is dead and another arrested for impaired driving following a violent five-vehicle crash which has closed all the westbound lanes of the QEW at Royal Windsor Drive, Friday. The dead mans name has not been released. He is believed to be from Oakville. The 12:20 a.m. collision began as a single car col- lision involving a Honda Civic, which hit a guardrail near royal Windsor Drive. High speed is believed to be involved in that incident. Burlington OPP say a tow truck pulled up at the scene and parked in front of the small car on the shoulder a few minutes later. Before police arrived, a Pontiac sedan heading westbound on the QEW slammed into the tow truck and the car which the driver had stopped to help. Two more cars then collided with the first three vehicles. The driver of the Pontiac who was alone in his car at the time, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Honda has been arrested for impaired driving and taken to Oakville-Trafalgar Memorial Hospital with minor injuries. The driver of the tow truck and the occupants of the last two cars into the collision were not injured.
