Burloak Canoe Club won its third consecutive Canadian Sprint CanoeKayak Championships last weekend in Welland, racking up a total of 757 points across all divisions. Led by recently-crowned world champions Adam van Koeverden and Mallorie Nicholson, Burloaks 90-padder contingent earned gold in 24 different events to finish 150 points ahead of second-place Cheema Aquatic Club of Nova Scotia. We are proud and elated to bring the championship home again. Van Koeverden, who won gold in the mens K-1 (kayaking singles) 1,000-metre race at the world canoe and kayak championships earlier this month in Hungary, followed that up by winning the senior K-1 200m, 500m and 1,000m titles at nationals. Nicholson, who teamed with Quebecs Laurence Vincent-Lapointe to win the womens C-2 (canoeing doubles) 500m at worlds, joined Burloak teammate Taylor Potts to win the senior C-2 200m, 500m and 1,000m in Welland.
