Not bad for fraternal twins. The girls, who will be entering Grade 7 this year at Posts Corners Public School, took the award in the 11-12 age category at Twins Days Festival 2011. It was also their third year at the Twinsburg, Ohio festival. The second place finish was a surprise to the family. The set of twins that came in third were identical, said mom, Tracy Thompson. Normally, when you think of looking alike, you think of identical twins. Mary-Kate and Ashley are also fraternal. I always tell people that. Theres a term thats look-a-like frater- nal and thats what Brooke and Allison are. The family heard about the festival when the girls were younger and drove to the small Ohio town for the first time in 2009. Now, theyve made the trip three times. For us, its just fun being with twins. Its actually a lot of fun for the kids. They meet a lot of other twins. The theme is to basically dress exactly like your twin, Tracy said. Its a small town in Ohio and your seeing double for all three days wherever you go. The family doesnt have trouble telling the girls apart because they have their dis- tinct personalities. They are fraternal, but most people cant tell them apart. Their friends and teachers have a hard time with it, she said. Whats it like to raise twins? Its easy because they have a built-in best friend. Thats the honest truth, she said.
