We have a lot of people now use our boardroom, but this will expand that for sure, Sawyer said. A more professional space, Chamber members will be able to use the boardroom for their own meetings. As an example, that could be to meet with potential clients or partners or when busi- nesses need to do off-site meetings for sensitive issues For businesses, having the ability to present, as part of their brand, something thats high qual- ity increases their ability to get business. We hope to expand the use of it, Brown said. The new boardroom will also be a more suitable place for the Chamber to host high-profile guests, such as cabinet ministers, in roundtable meetings. This allows us to sit down in a professional environment and have a roundtable discussion. Our members can be comfortably seat- ed without being jammed in, Brown said. The boardroom will be fitted with a projector and a conference calling system. The office will have a kitchen, which can be used to heat up food during catered events. There is also a patio area in the back of the building, which can be used for such things as outdoor recep- tions. With additional staff, now a total of six, and 100 active volun- teers, there will be space for people to work in, which Brown said is not possible at the current loca- tion.
