Welcoming students to the first day of classes Tuesday, ole - mentaire Oakville Est and ole secondaire Oakville had students from pre-Kindergarten all the way through to Grade 9. The school board Conseil scolaire Viamonde is actually super happy we can offer this to the students, especially now that were offering secondary pro- grams, said principal Franse Maguire. This is a great success for the school board, but also for the fran- cophone families that live in Halton. Being the second French public elementary school in Oakville, the new school, located at 150 Ridge Dr., will also be a temporary high school for the French board until one is built nearby. The 40th Ontario general elec- tion will take place on Oct. 6. As of press time, Elections Ontario has not made available an official list of local candidates, but a number of individuals have stat- ed their intent for the Oakville and Halton ridings. Oakville will see the incumbent Liberal MPP Kevin Flynn, square off against the PC partys Larry Scott, the NDPs Lesley Sprague and the Green Partys Andrew Chlobowski. The Halton riding will have the incumbent PC MPP Ted Chudleigh go up against the Liberal partys Indira Naidoo-Harris, the NDPs Nik Spohr, the Green Partys Karen Fraser and the Family Coalitions Tony Rodriguez.
