At a time when discussions regard- ing libraries are hitting the headlines, Oakville Public Library wants to give residents the opportunity to have their say in the direction of the library. OPL's strategic plan is important and we want to make sure we are on the right track. In the coming months, we would love to hear your ideas on how to shape your librarys future direction. This is your chance to dream big about the library you want and to share your ideas and visions. In Oakville Public Library branches in October, customers may participate in our Stick em Up initiative all branches will offer customers post-it notes to write or draw their ideas for the library and stick them up on the library walls. If you prefer to visit our virtual branches online, be sure to check out the Imagining the Future survey locat- ed on our homepage (www.opl.on.ca). Go ahead, this is your chance to speak up we will be compiling results and taking them into consideration in the design of our strategic plan. Oakville teens are invited to attend the Imagining the Future Teen Workshop on Tuesday, Oct. 4 from 7-8:30 p.m. at our Iroquois Ridge Branch. There will be pizza, and everyone will get a $10 iTunes card just for attending. Its a chance for the teens to tell us how they would like the library to change and what they think it should become. Teens can e-mail mcrichton@ oakville.ca to sign up. If you are an Oakville senior, we want input from you on what youd like to see in your library of the future. We are offering two workshops, free coffee, treats (for brain power) and Tim Hortons gift cards will be provid- ed for all who participate. Workshop 1 will take place on Tuesday, Oct. 4 at 2 p.m. at the Iroquois Ridge Branch in the Program Room. Workshop 2 will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 12 at 1 p.m. at the Sir John Colborne Centre in the board- room. To register for the seniors work- shops, please e-mail emurphy@ oakville.ca or call 905 815 2042, ext. 5092. By working together and creating a shared dream for our library, we can ensure that we are going in a direc- tion driven by our customers and by the need in the community.
